HTC One M8 charges very slowly, and can lose battery when charging

I got my HTC a little less than two years ago, and now something seems to have buggered up when charging. I still have the old charger, but I had to replace the cable as that broke. I've had the new cable for a few months, and that has been charging fine up until now.

Now, when I charge my phone, it takes ages, and if I use my phone when it's charging, it will actually lose charge. I don't think it's the phone's battery as it loses charge at the same rate and it still charges to 100% if guven the time, I don't think it's the charger as I have another and it charges just as slowly, I don't think it's a high usage app because it doesn't lose charge quickly and it still charges super slowly when it's off. The only thing I can think it may be is the charging port or the wire, however, it should be noted that it doesn't give the 'slow charge' message (which it did when my first wire broke).

Anyone have any idea what it may be, how to check, and how to solve it?

Thanks :)

Welcome to Android Central! I agree that the microUSB port is where to focus. Use a can of compressed air to blow it out, in case there's debris lodged in there. Also inspect the pin carefully for any damage. If the problem persists, the port might have to be replaced.
