I sent my One M7 back for repair

After over 2 weeks they sent me an M8, just the phone, no instructions, or any accessories, so I've slowly been learning the new features

I've noticed there seems to be no logic to the ordering of photos in the gallery, they are all over the place, no date order

On the M7 everything was in the order that the photos were taken

Is there a way to get them to be ordered?

When you open up gallery it should be on the Timeline tab with photos showing from the most recent one taken. If you put music onto the phone and it has the date in the file properties, pictures shown from the album art will display the year it was released.

I'm still having this issue. The ordering of pics in the gallery makes no sense whatsoever. On Sunday I went out into the country for a walk and took about 10 pics there. Yesterday I took pics from a different location. One pic from Sunday has randomly been placed in the middle of yesterday's pics

If you check the details of your photos, does the accurate date and time it was taken show up? I don't really have an answer to your question, but i can recommend doing a support chat with HTC. You can connect to them on the HTC website.

I've just checked the dates and times, it seems the random ones have been marked as taken at a different date!

I don't know how the phone is doing this

OK so that's the root of your issue. Assuming your system date is accurate, make sure the camera settings look right (something like time/date stamp photos), take this info and do a chat with HTC. Maybe something like reinstalling Camera will help, and maybe they can help you do it.

thanks benjamin

I chatted to HTC but they were no use at all, said they couldn't help me

they said it could be a developer problem

I asked where the developers work, he said HTC, I said so it's your problem then

he was pretty useless

I don't get it. Did you have him put in a ticket and follow up with you?

No, it was their live chat thing

no ticket or follow up

useless

Something is missing from this story. There has to be some resolution to the conversation. How did you end it?

I would simply not have allowed it to end without a resolution or next step.

I would now tweet @moversi, who is a really senior guy at HTC USA. He's very responsive and helpful on Twitter.
