HTC One m8 keeps opening sync pictures

Every time I plug my phone into my laptop via USB to charge it it switches to a windows 8 'sync pictures to laptop', and unfortunately my charger must be slightly faulty because every time i move the phone it does it again. I think its due to me wishing to sync a couple pictures a few weeks back and now its sync them to the laptop (i think) it switches to a blank screen saying picture reel and none of the cancel or clear selection do anything. This, i will be honest, is more than slightly infuriating and i would really appreciate any help. Is anyone else got a true hatred for windows 8 or is it just me?

It's not just you. I have been very tempted to change to Ubuntu for quite some time. I should just pull the trigger one of these days.

However, to answer your question: I am not sure what to suggest. Do you use HTC Sync Manager at all? I never set mine up.
