HTC one M8 not responding to Volume Up + Power in Recovery

Hi,
Last night, my phone went out of battery so I recharged it. When I turned it on it said it had 47 apps to update. I had no choice to ignore it. It took a while so I went to sleep and when I tried to unlock it this morning it showed me the message "Sense Home has stopped unexpectedly". I've looked online and I have the same issue as many others: I can't access my home screen.

I want to try to clear the partition cache and I've followed tutorials on how to do that with the hardware buttons but when I select Recovery and it shows a phone with a red triangle/exclamation mark pressing Volume Up + Power (as the tutorials say) does nothing. My phone just turns itself on again with the issue still there. I know the buttons are not broken and I have not found anyone with the same problem online, so if somebody knows how to fix this or knows another way to clear partition, it would be much appreciated!

So, it will not boot to your home screen anymore? If you're not able to access that, and you cannot enter the recovery, then there's not much else that can be done, unless you know how to access this through ADB. I would suggest bringing in to a service center.
