HTC ONE M8, stuck on recovery. How can I get out of it?

HTC ONE M8, stuck on recovery.

I am being offered an HTC One M8. However it is stuck at the recovery menu and wont load anything else. From what I was told I know that the phone was being updated and it turned off while doing so. Is it worth it to buy it, it is quite cheap.
