My HTC One M8 keeps having these messages pop up, "Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped, Unfortunately gmail has stopped, unfortunately google exchange services has stopped." And they won't go away. My HTC One M8 is rooted, and the annoying pop-ups stop after I disable google play services. I've tried clearing the cache and resetting the preferences and it still doesn't work. I want to know if there is an alternative to factory data reset to fix my phone.

You can try fixing permisions.Download the Rom Manager from the play store,Within the app is the option to fix permisions,it fixes many force close problems on rooted devices.

I had this problem and still do on my device. The way I fix it is under location settings, i changed the "high accuracy mode" (which uses cell phone towers and the like to track your location) to "device only" which only uses gps. As of right now if I enable High accuracy mode then my google play services and google apps will all crash.

Note: When you do change your location settings to "device only" you will still be able to use google maps and everything pretty much just fine. However, many other apps will prompt you to change these location settings, just make sure you always deny any app that asks to change your device settings. As of yet I have yet to have an app that asked to change my device settings which I denied, actually cause the app to not function right. Just make sure you always check that the location settings are set for "Device Only". Good luck!
