HTC One M8 vibrate is not working/sporadic, how can I fix it?

HTC one m8 vibrate not working/sporadic

I can't figure out what happened to the vibrate on my phone. The feature is turned on and should be vibrating when I use the keyboard, with notifications, etc. One day it suddenly stopped working. I did a complete factory reset and nothing changed. However, I don't think the vibrate motor is broken because occasionally, it WILL vibrate, but this doesn't last. What the heck!

Welcome to Android Central! Try Safe Mode, to see if the problem is due to a 3rd party app: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10853

I just had the same problem with a friends.

Find the HTC guide on your phone if you have it.
Then go support- phone health (diagnostics)- hardware diagnostics.
Then select vibration test at the bottom.
If that doesn't work then either the vibration motor has broke or the connection to it is broken.

Mine just went out last week. I ran the diagnostic and it didn't vibrate. Called Sprint and because I have insurance including TEP, they are trading it out......

Turns out they are sending me an M9 as a replacement so I'll play with that until my contract is up in May, and by then the M10 should be out........
