Hi guys,

I have an HTC One m8 AT&T running Android 6, no root.
About 7 days I have been noticing that my videos on my device the ones I took with this phone, instagram videos on the app and YouTube videos stops working after a day or so. It only works again if I reboot the device. I tried cleaning cache, wiping cache partion but no luck. My phone is connected to wifi majority of the time. Any help please?

Welcome to Android Central! What happens when you try to play them? Do you get an error message?

For videos on my phone it's plays the sound but screen is black. Youtube no error just does not play the video. On instagram I get the loading circle.

I would wonder if some other app you installed is causing the instability. But with the time frame you describe, testing things in Safe Mode would be unfeasible. You can try uninstalling any apps you may have installed or updated in the last week.

Ok so normal videos on my phone would stop playing as the battery savings was on. But I turned battery savings off and normal videos taken with my phone plays fine. However internet apps. Instagram, whatsapp and youtube, the videos on these apps won't play after say day of phone running.. I uninstalled Android webview to see if that is causing the issue.

At least I fixed the normal videos on my phone problem ,now to get internet videos playing consistently

Uninstalling updates to Android System Webview is a good idea -- let us know if that helped.

Ok so I tried uninstalling the apps that updated in last 3 week, reset the network settings, cleared cache ,I tried almost everything. But still nothing works. I actually think it's an instagram update. I have reinstalled instagram but I have used a version released end of May. Will see how it responds now after a few days

Ok so problem has been resolved. What is did was put the data saver on in instagram settings this will prevent videos from auto playing and you have to tap play on the video to play it. I think it was problem with the videos auto playing and the HTC One m8 Memory management could not handle .

Great, thanks for sharing your solution! Hopefully the problem stays away for good.
