This is my second M9 with the exact same problem. Screen won't light up, although periodically when I leave it on and stationary for an extended period, pick it up and wake up the phone with the power button the screen will light up briefly then go out again. The phone works otherwise, just can't see the screen without shining a bright light into the screen. I've already done two factory resets. Any help is appreciated. First phone was replaced under the Uh-Oh protection. Had this one less than 4 months.

Haven't tried that. First thing I'll do when I get home tonight! Right now I've reactivated my Samsung S3. Can't believe I allowed my self to get talked into the HTC instead of the Samsung S6. Lesson learned. Thanks.

Ugh. Sounds like it could be a loose connection, or some defect with the backlight. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to talk to HTC again.

Left it in Safe Mode overnight. Got up this morning and had 5% battery left. I know this because now the screen lights up. Will wonders never cease. Just uninstalled all the 3rd party apps and restarted in normal mode. Will let it continue to charge and see if the screen continues to act properly before deciding whether to continue the process of sending back to HTC for repairs (not sure what they can do if it's working:-)) or just reactivate and hope it keeps performing. Thanks for the feedback.

Week 1 update - phone still working i.e. screen lights up. Screen occasionally flickers, but for the most part it is working. Any ideas on the flickering? Really trying to avoid sending the phone into the service center and having them tell me it works and they can't replicate the problem.

Hard to say. It could still be a loose connection somewhere. If the problem comes back, I don't think you'll have much choice but to send it back to HTC again.

Hello. I have similar problem, my phone works fine, and than screen goes black. That's happening randomly. Sometimes i leave it and after some time screen is normal, but sometimes i must restart it. I tried deleting cache and factory reset, but that didn't helped. I read on some web page that it could be battery, maybe some dust between battery and contact, and it could be software problem. I don't want to try repairing, because of that, i'm still waiting for android n update to see is it problem in the software. Also my power button doesn't work very well, sometimes i must press it really hard, and sometimes i barely touch it. Sometimes phone locks by it self, because button is stuck. Maybe screen problem it's because of that. When it goes black i can hear the phone ringing, or feel a vibration, but i don't se anything.
Sorry for bad English. :D
