How do I make textra my default messaging app? I'm still messages to the stock message app (no notifications but they're there).
Next...sometimes when I press "call" on a contact it immediately puts the phone on speaker. This is extremely annoying because it's happened in the mornings when I don't expect it and its on full volume when it happens. Does this phone have a hard restart option or something? Thanks again forums!

Re: need help with 2 things

1) Go into your stock messaging app, then into the settings and disable SMS.
2) There might be an option to turn that off in the phone app's setting. It might also be an issue with the phone thinking it is docked, and makes it go into speaker mode when dialing.

Nothing works. I made textra my default app. Force stopped the stock msg app turned everything possible off and its still keeping history of all my txt. It's killing me.

Will the hard restart solve this? I do remember one neat thing about the iPhone was that whenever it acted up no matter how severe the issue ...all I'd do is hard restart and it was fixed. Kind of cool actually but I don't know if its the same with this phone. Scared of hard restarting.

Hard restart is just holding the power button until it reboots. Doesn't hurt the phone if you do it

Force stopping the app won't stop it from collecting history. As long as it's not "disabled" it will continue to store your sms and mms. Default out not. Go to the same place you cleared the cache and if it's not grayed out you can disable. As for you making a different app default someone mentioned it earlier.

It is grayed out. So how do I disable it now? So damn frustrating.

It can't be disabled without root, but there should still be an option in the stock messaging app's settings to disable it for SMS. Have you looked there?

No matter what and how many SMS apps you use, all your messages are stored in the same place and are available to all of your apps.
I change between apps depending on the mood ;-)

Actually a Hard Reset is also known as a factory reset. Wiping settings and memory.

What is hard reset (factory reset; master reset)? - Definition from WhatIs.com

What you meant maybe is a soft reset.
By pressing and holding the power button, your then prompted to turn off the device. Soft Reset..
When the device is ON and you turn OFF the screen your in stand by mode.

It's hard reboot, not reset. It doesn't matter which SMS app you use, your messages will still be visible in the stock messaging app. The only way around that is to disable the stock messaging app, which requires root.

Why does it matter anyways? If you delete a message in Textra, it also removes it form the stock message app.

Yeah, I know what each kind of reset does. I thought he was referring to a hard reboot, or a power cycle.

haha, I thought it was just me leaving it on speaker from the last call. Don't you hate it when you put the phone to your ear in the morning and the ringer blares your ear off?
