My girlfriends HTC One X won't update the Jelly Bean, I've been trying after reading it was finally released for her phone but it never updates or sees anything after checking.

Does the phone need to be factory reset or does AT&T have to still push the update out?

Did she buy the phone brand new or used? If used, make sure it's not rooted. If it's not rooted and is completely stock then there should be no reason why it wouldn't receive the update.

This is not true, there are many people including my self who's HOX will not update. I have Hard reset my device twice, one through software and once through recovery. All my device does is check for updates and times out. Occasionally I will get a "server unavailable" error, but mostly it does nothing.

There is a lengthy thread on the AT&T forum about this and other issues.

Hence the word SHOULD being in my reply. My One X is rooted and has been for a while. I've taken zero OTA's.

I would call AT&T and ask them if they can help you. I know usually OTA's roll out in phases, and after those phases are done it's not active forever. So basically I THINK there's a period of time where you can OTA, and after that you have to get it some other way. Not sure exactly how that works, though.

Have you tried connecting it to a wifi network? I had to do that to my wife's One X before it would update.

Oh I've tried everything, I've soft reset, hard reset (2 times) Tried with mobile network on, off. Tried with WiFi on and off. I've talked with AT&T, I've talked with Merlin at HTC all to no avail. Either the update isn't available for my device yet or there is something really screwed up with it. The only thing I haven't done is flash it with the RUU. I have to have this device functional as it is a business phone, so no rooting etc. I'm stymied.

According to HTC on their page under support is the download. Just use HTC sync manager, but, IT WILL WIPE ALL DATA. SO, I was told. I refuse to update yet due to all the issues I've heard. I want to see how the USB download goes vs the ota. Hope this helps!

If I were you I wouldn't update it. I did the update over a week ago and I have multiple problems. no more mass storage device, you cannot view pictures as thumbnails anymore, when trying to copy the files from the phone to a dvd/cd you can only select one picture at a time, you cannot drag and drop. the phone shows as a media device, you can no longer open the pictures in windows picture manager when you can crop, brighten, rotate...etc...It did something to the camera. It no longer functions the same.

Thanks for the update. I've been holding off bc my phone really has no serious issues. I was excited to see JB, but not with the issues. I'll see if they really do plan another update in the summer. If so, I'll update both then.

How did you get it to stop? My HTC one x will not let me in the Google play store and it's slower and it crashes since I did the update:mad:

Probably looking at a factory reset, if the performance is bad all-round.

To clear up the Market, go to SETTINGS-APPS-ALL find Google Play and CLEAR DATA on it. Should do the trick.

If your phone isn't updating you're probably lucky. Mine can't function on the internet unless it's costing me 3G data.
