HTC Sync for Evo4g

I updated my htc sync a while back, and it basically stopped working.. I also, reinstalled the sync that came with the evo.. is there a compatability issue with windows 7? It just says that my device is not connected.. Thank you ahead of time for the help!!

I'm also using Windows 7. It usually takes several attempts to get the computer to recognize my Evo but it finally does.

Sync has gone smoothly with glithces only with Outlook 2010 Contacts. The phone will list multiple contacts for the same individuals in some cases. In Outlook all the contacts have been converted to sort by First, Last which I can't undo.

What exactly is it supposed to sync? How would I go about using it?
