Just took possession of my HTC One. I'm upgrading from an Samsung Epic 4G. My 2 biggest concerns with HTC's new offering are the following.

1. The phone's ear speaker (not speakerphone) has a horrible tinny-ness to it. It's like the sound is vibrating or rattling around off the metal back case. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm curious to know if I have a defective phone or does this issue span across all HTC Ones ? Is everyone happy with call quality ?

2. I'm frustrated with the 4+ megapixel camera on the phone. When tinkering with the phone at Best Buy the HTC image clarity was marginal. None the less I took the leap of faith and am giving it a shot. However additional pictures taken indoors (office environments) are grainy and off in color. Pictures with bright white detailing have pronounced red hues. Has anyone performed any kind of benchmarks relative to Samsung's S3 or Apples iPhone 4S? I am not looking for pro photos, but I do need something that isn't grainy and off in color.

Any feedback would be welcomed.

1. I haven't experienced any issues with call quality--I've actually found it to be quite clear (better than my old Galaxy S / Epic by leaps and bounds). Could be a defective unit.

2. The camera can be a bit grainy at times in low light--that's true of most cameras, more pixels won't always fix that, it's more an effect of the processing. From what I understand the HTC default for "sharpness" is far too high--a lot of users have reported better shots by turning that setting down to -1 or -2, and tinkering with the wb/exposure.

1. No

2. See picture thread above. There are many excellent shots in varous lighting conditions. There are also many crappy shots. How much is the camera and how much the photographer? Is it variation in cameras or variation in ability. Don't know. Mine does a good job in moderate light, but low light it is grainy/noisy - but most other phones wouldn't be grainy, they would be dark, blurry and grainy/noisy.

You might try experimenting with turning Boomsound on or off. I think it affects call quality. I don't put the speaker up to my ear because I always use a bluetooth device.

I think this is the main point. In most cameras, the same scene would probably just be dark so the noise/blurriness isn't that apparent, but with the One these things become quite visible.

I do hope they tweak some of the camera settings in a future update though.

I exchanged my first one with this as one of a few issues. It sounded almost rattly. The new one does not, and has FAR better sound than my iPhone 4S or Nexus S had.
