HTT M8 (ATT/ST) Won't update past 4.4.2

Bought a new HTC One M8 (ATT) from a friend. Switched over my Straight Talk provider. Currently working on the MMs issue but I do have 4G LTE.

However when I search for updates, the ATT server says my phone is currently up to date, we know this is not true as currently I am operating under 4.4.2

Any Ideas? I've tried numerous resets and have been browsing for other ideas. :'(

1) AT&T won't update you if you're not a current AT&T customer (and you're a Straight Talk customer - Straight Talk is AT&T's customer).

2) Are you sure that AT&T has even released 4.4.4 for the M8? (They haven't for a lot of other phones.)

Version 4.4.2 is the latest supported by AT&T. 4.4.3 was released, then quickly pulled back. Don't expect to see another update until 5.0 is released sometime in the next 90 days.

The first Answer seems to kind of be a big circle. However I'd be happy with 4.4.3

OHhh. I read this somewhere than of course the internet led me to other conclusions. Is it worth * Rooting?

You should be running a GPE edition for the latest updates, no Sense bloat, and snappier performance.
