Huawei P20 does not connect to Mac

Hi, I am trying to connect my Huawei P20 to my Macbook for data transfer but I receive no prompt for "permitting data connection". Also Android File Transfer cannot detect a Android device.

I have tried with 3 different cables and on 2 different Macbooks.
I have also tried to switch on developer mode, but no change so far.

However the phone is charigng.

There are different wires in the cable (so different pins on the port) for charging and data. Evidently one of the data pins became disconnected. The phone will have to go into a repair shop, unless it's still under warranty.
