Huawei p20 pro flip case problems

Hi

Bought the official p20 pro flip case with the side screen.

I have always on display turned on but as you cover the camera sensor the screen goes off.

As such when the case closes it doesn't enable anything on the side screen of the case.

Any ideas ?

I just purchased this cover and this doesn't work. After several seconds, the screen goes off.

I have a P10 and my wife has a P30 Lite for which we purchased the official smart flip covers. We too are finding the date and time display disappears a few seconds after closing the case despite having the smart cover and always on display settings correctly set. I have contacted Huawei this evening regarding the matter (not holding my breath) but if I should hear anything positive I'll post back.
