Huawei P9 Connects but soon after disconnects from Windows 10

I've followed the instructions for connecting to HiSuite on Windows 10 (debugging mode, etc...) but shortly after the phone connects, it disconnects. I'm trying to back up my photos and videos but can hardly get through one before it disconnects. I've tried two different cable and it does the some thing on two different P9s.
Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! You don't need HiSuite to copy photos and videos -- what happens if you just connect via USB and use Windows Explorer? Does it still disconnect after a short time?

Also, when it disconnects, does that coincide with the phone going to sleep?
