I am talking on the phone, I want to split screen and see active notes (to look at a note previously written) and phone still in top window.
ALSO: ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN S-PEN WHOSE BUTTON IS HARD TO PRESS..?

I don't think you can split screen with phone app because it isn't an option in the multi-window taskbar. But if you take out the s-pen during a call you can use the action memo app. You can also press the home button during the call and access your notes then. Hope this helps. Now that you bring up this topic, I wonder why the phone app wasn't included in multi-window?

also after pressing the home button to navigate to another program, you can always return to the phone screen by pulling down the notification bar and pressing the green phone icon....you can hang up from there also....

You can certainly press the home button, but you can also pull out your S pen, choose Pen Window, select the Phone app, and then bring up a Notes app. Like the picture I've attached.

Don't know about once you are in the call because I haven't tried I but you can launch a call from contacts with recent notes in multiview at the same time. I have several custom paired windows set up just for that purpose. Contacts/S notes, Contacts/Maps and Contacts/Calandar

Just set up by pulling the multiview window out and click on the dots at the bottom, create a pairing that you like.

EDIT: I had to try it. I called my wife so the whole screen was filled with the contact. I couldn't get to the mulltiview pullout at first but then took the pen out and hit action note. From there you can click list view & get to the multiview pairing, tapped on my contact/Snote pairing and all was well. Perhaps a little convoluted but it works. Better to bring up the pairing before the call if you were calling out vs. taking a call and needing to see a previous note.
