What a good way to waste a Saturday. I'm sure most of you have noticed that some people are managing to get the Galaxy Nexus from third party retailers. I happened to see some people fairly close to me start putting them on Craigslist because they went in and got one. I've tried twice today at Radio Shack and got as close holding the phone, but something happened both times to stop me.

The first time, I had everything going great, but the girl managed to screw up adding a line to my account. She didn't know to run it as an existing customer, got confused, and called her Verizon Rep. Busted. I had the phone in hand and she was willing to sell it to me, but the phone call to the rep ruined it all.

The second time at a different location, she managed to get past the credit part and was going back to get the phone. There were 3 people working and two of them thought it was cool to sell the Nexus. When she asked her co-worker to go get it from the back, the co-worker immediately told her it wasnt for sale. Busted again.

So now I've got an approved line ready to be pulled up when I get there so that's out of the way. My suggestion is to call first to see if they have it and if they say they do, ask how much it is on a new contract. If they look in their system and say $299, you're probably home free barring any stupidity issues like in my first attempt. I'll let you guys know if I succeed and you'll be the first to know with pictures of it being held in front of this post. I'll also answer whatever questions you have.

As I'm sure I'm not the only person doing this, good luck to the rest of you. Happy hunting. Haha.

Haha, you are correct. You're not the only one hunting. I decided to take a small trip around the city a bit ago... Big city at noon on a Saturday shortly before Christmas. What an incredibly stupid idea, in retrospect. >_<

Anyways, tried both Verizon corporate stores, just to see if they had a demo out. Both said no, and both of the door greeters were incredibly rude about it. "No," and then turned away. Wow, jackholes.

Tried a Radio Shack location in my local mall. Guy was cool, but said they hadn't even gotten any in. He was surprised when I mentioned my Radio Shack story from my thread last night.

Tried a Best Buy Mobile location in the mall after that. Was looking at phones for 10+ minutes trying to bait a sales rep, but even when two were not busy at all, they didn't come over at all. Man, I don't know how many people actually look at phones for that long in a third party retailer, but geez, I would be jumping at the first chance I got to sell phones to a customer. Lazy SOBs. I even left, got food, and came back 15 minutes later. Again, no luck. Didn't even bother asking.

On my drive home, I passed a Best Buy retail location... but I knew that place would be incredibly busy today, and didn't want to waste my time anymore. So instead, I came home, and now I'm going to get my daily dose of Nexus from these forums and cry myself to sleep. :p

I got to play with one for a few minutes at a Best Buy Mobile.

Make sure they aren't too busy and ask who ever is in charge in that store. It helped that the guy I talked to sold me my Nexus S 4G and remembered me...

I'm heading to bb right now. I called earlier and i told and asked him about the delays and etc a he was still telling me its for sale today. Soooooo I'm not expecting much out but ill be shopping there for other things anyways so might as well kill two birds with one stone right.

best buy employees don't make commission on phones that's why they never care. always had terrible experiences with best buy. I go to buy a computer I know what I want but I have a few questions about the specs because the cards never say anything and they're always password-ed, and i get in argument with the "mr minimum wage employee high school dropout but i work at best buy so i know everything" over tech stuff... I'm a freaking Electrical Engineering major in college.... only tech store within a reasonable distance from me unfortunately.

anyway unfortunately i have to buy mine at best buy because i have around $200 worth of gift cards from over the years....

god i hate that place

i miss circuit city

end of rant

Are you sure you are not a pancake flipper at IHOP?

Best Buy is telling me tomorrow morning. I made him check his system and he said 12/11 for $299. Doubt its right, but ill let you know. Other stores in the same area are saying they dont have stock.

I've been nexii hunting all morning as well and Best Buy told me the same thing about a Sunday release but I'm very skeptical. Every Radio Shack I went to/called said they have them in stock but can't sell it per their Verizon reps. The Verizon corporate stores were by far the least helpful and they claim to not have any in stock at the stores. Either they're lying or the Verizon corporate deliveries happen at or extremely close to launch. Anyone have insight on this last point?

I would hate to work at these stores during this time.. so irritating to have to answer the same questions a thousand times a day until this release.

That's correct. Girl manager told me come back tomorrow cause thier comp says 12/11 street date and she would sell it to me anyways because that's what thier system said and that's what she would tell them.

Tomorrow Wooten!

By the way. The sleeves on the box when she opened it and try yo put it back. She completely tore the sleeve box up....then she started to use the table to push it and she kept slamming it and i was ouch ouch ouch..... it wqs painful to watch

Any complaints about how this phone feels in hand (its too big, plasticky, etc.) are completely unfounded. This phone feels amazing in hand. I didnt get a chance to turn it on, but it made me remember how much I loved my Galaxy S2. We all are going to be loving this thing even more than we do now.

Plus I would tell her if she's having problems with call that ill fix it and ill take it home with me nnow.

You going back tomorrow?

Agreed. I went into my local corporate Verizon store and browsed a little before asking a saleswoman if I could see the Nexus, she said no and they didn't have them available yet. I called her BS and said I saw it a couple days ago when I was in there, so she went to the manager who said it was fine to let me see it. So I played with it for a good 10-15 minutes. It feels really light and solid in hand and everything on it works so smooth and fast, screen looks great for websites and pictures. Compared to the other phones out at the similar size it was by far the most comfortable to hold and use. (side note, a radio station was in there doing a live broadcast promotional thing so I signed up to win a Razr, I haven't heard back so I think I didn't win, would have sold it and used the money toward the Nexus and banked the extra)

The mobile manager at bb told me that they have 10 in stock and will sell it to me tomorrow. Will activation work? I'll be transferring a number from ATT to VZW.

Would it maybe e better to have them not activate it and take it somewhere else to do it? Im just looking for suggestions to make sure it goes through tom!

Thanks,
STEZ

Bright and early. And if you dont think the Razr is too big (I own one), you will definitely be fine with the Nexus. It feels smaller.

Keep me posted or pm me please if you happen to buy it without any problem cause I might go about 10 Ish so if your going first thing and without a hitch let me know. Thanks man.

Do we get can'd for getting a nexus early?
Like Verizon saying anything or so? Or calling us etc?
