What a good way to waste a Saturday. I'm sure most of you have noticed that some people are managing to get the Galaxy Nexus from third party retailers. I happened to see some people fairly close to me start putting them on Craigslist because they went in and got one. I've tried twice today at Radio Shack and got as close holding the phone, but something happened both times to stop me.
The first time, I had everything going great, but the girl managed to screw up adding a line to my account. She didn't know to run it as an existing customer, got confused, and called her Verizon Rep. Busted. I had the phone in hand and she was willing to sell it to me, but the phone call to the rep ruined it all.
The second time at a different location, she managed to get past the credit part and was going back to get the phone. There were 3 people working and two of them thought it was cool to sell the Nexus. When she asked her co-worker to go get it from the back, the co-worker immediately told her it wasnt for sale. Busted again.
So now I've got an approved line ready to be pulled up when I get there so that's out of the way. My suggestion is to call first to see if they have it and if they say they do, ask how much it is on a new contract. If they look in their system and say $299, you're probably home free barring any stupidity issues like in my first attempt. I'll let you guys know if I succeed and you'll be the first to know with pictures of it being held in front of this post. I'll also answer whatever questions you have.
As I'm sure I'm not the only person doing this, good luck to the rest of you. Happy hunting. Haha.
