hyperlinks after ICS HTC Sensation

Hyperlinks in text messages are no longer working or show as hyperlinks. If I send a webpage link or in emergency alerts we receive the hyperlinks show as text and we have to copy and paste. My husband and I both have HTC Sensations, not rooted. I've searched the settings and found nothing I can turn on/off to help.

Something to do with complying with a court order Apple v. HTC. Easiest thing to do is d/l an alternative email application. There are other more complicated workarounds out there (search android forums or XDA) but I believe they all require you to root your phones.
