Alright guys, I'm lost here. I have a Samsung Epic rooted and ROMed and all that which was easy as pie because of Odin and whatnot.

However, I am completely confused with this Optimus. Here's where I'm at so far, and I don't want to risk a brick so I've stopped.

1. Rooted. I did this the easy way with GingerBreak. It seems fine, I got Titanium working as well as a few other root only apps.

2. Titanium says BusyBox 1.18.4 is installed, unless I'm misunderstanding the screen.

That's it. BUT I made a dumb move by clearing Setup Wizard data and it killed my Home & Search button as well as my notification tones (voice call ringtone works fine).

I don't want to screw this up, but I also don't really want a custom ROM. All I want is my buttons and tones to work. I'm good otherwise.

Can you guys tell me exactly what I need to do now? Not just "hey newb ADB da ROM" or something stupidly childish & unhelpfully vague like that. I need to know what precise and minimal steps I need to take to avoid bricking this puppy. From what I read it's a fragile phone, moreso than my Epic. I already returned one to Best Buy for other issues...I don't think I can return this one, nor would I if it was my fault.

If I have to push a ROM I will but I've read so much information in so many places it's making my brain melt. I don't know what's safe & what isn't anymore.

Thanks in advance!

ETA: Nevermind. I did a hard reset & restore.

Once you start goofing with things sometimes it gets a little sour... I did something similar when I first rooted my phone... Only I removed phone.apk on accident... I installed ClockworkMod Recovery and followed these instructions to get back to my ROM: http://www.prepaidandroid.org/index...e_your_Optimus_V_to_almost_original_condition

Just back up your apps using Titanium Backup, install the custom recovery, follow instructions on returning ROM to stock, reroot using SuperOneClick (available on the site above) restore apps using Titanium Backup...

Please let us know if your need more specifics...

Thanks. Sorry for wasting your response time.

I hear ya. I don't have enough fingers & toes to count how many times I screwed up my Epic, but Odin makes it easy to fix so I never worry about that.

Fortunately I wasn't too deep with the Optimus because this ADB stuff is over my head. I just want a clean stock install, and I think I'll finally get it this time.
