I am no longer able to add an icon to the screen - help please?

[Android Central Question]

I'm running the latest Android V9 update, on a Samsung S9. I've noticed that I no longer can add an icon to any screen. The "Add to home" button is greyed out on all apps.

Anyone else have this issue?

Don't have this issue.

Click and hold on a blank part of the home page.
Click on "Home screen settings"
Click on "Home screen layout"
Ensure that "Home and Apps screens" is selected NOT "Home screen only"

Also, if you're on Pie, make sure you don't have your desktop layout locked. It's also in Home screen settings.
