I posted already about having trouble with Facebook information not coming up on my contacts list.

I thought it would help if I performed the "sync" function. I downloaded HTC Sync from my phone's SD card and from the website. Now my phone still says that it is unable to find HTC sync on the PC. I can't set up to sync because I don't have Outlook. I don't use Outlook and don't really want to have to mess with it. Do I have to use the Sync? Why can't I get my Facebook contact information? I love this phone but I am pulling my hair out, please help!

I'm logged on to Facebook, I have double-checked that. I only have one contact in my phone right now (I'm taking it in tomorrow to have all of my contacts transferred from my BB), and it pulls up nothing for him. It shows my FB status for MY contact information, but not picture or birthday. I tried to pull it up manually under "edit" on the people function, and it says "friend information downloading or unavailable."

Maybe this will all just correct itself when I have everything transferred from my BB?

Click on the contact and go to the Updates/Events for the person using the slider part on the bottom of the screen. Now, it should say no updates, and at the top of the screen, there should be "Link profile" with some name followed after it. You MUST be Facebook friends with this person in your contacts otherwise it will not work. Try it out.

do i have to sync them all one by one?

If you were hoping that you just sign in with your FB account and the phone automatically syncs all your contacts with your facebook friends, it doesn't work like that.

Why, you ask? Well, say you have a contact named "John Smith". But you have TWO friends on facebook with the same name "John Smith". How will the phone know which John Smith to link with your contact? Also, say you have a John Smith on your contact, and you have a fb friend John Smith (just one). But they are two different people with the same name. Hero would link the two, though in reality they are two different people.

So yes, you do have to sync one by one. A quick way to do this is to click on the People app, long-press on your contact's name from the list, and click edit. Scroll down to "Facebook" and then find them from the list of Facebook friends that comes up.

Of course, all of the above is assuming you have already logged into FB with your Hero and you are linked yourself.

sorry dvdqnoc you're incorrect.

Didn't have to sync my contacts one by one, they all or I should say most, synced on their own.

In order for them to sync you must have either their phone number or e-mail address for the contact and they in turn must have that information listed and publicly available in their profile. If you don't or they don't you must sync one by one.
