I am soooooo done with Ubuntu

I run a dual-boot box, Win7 and Kubuntu 12.10. I tried compiling a kernel and found out that I need (K)Ubuntu 10.04. Sucks, since I spent a good part of my day yesterday installing Android SDK, Android source git, thekravens ICS git and two different toolchains (before I found out that Android Source git has a toolchain in it).

So I tried installing 10.04 in a virtual box, which turned into an unmitigated disaster when I installed the vmware-toolbox. That's been wiped...

Then I decided that I can install 10.04 via Wubi. Went great until I tried to get my second monitor up and running. That won't boot in anymore, either.

Well, I guess the Google gods don't want me trying to screw around with kernels.

I don't really understand why 12.04 wouldn't work for you.... And even if you need the earlier release, go with Virtualbox FTW -- much easier to configure for desktop guests.
I'm not a fan of WUBI for any purpose.

You dont need a different release. You need to understand whats different.

I used ubuntu 12.04 to build my buddy uses suse im on backtrack now all of them are debian based and they all will build its a matter of how to do it if you cant figure it out you shouldnt be building a kernel

I use my desktop as the media server for my family, and only run Linux at night for building and playing around with source. Wubi works fine and functions fast and efficient. It's a great entry to Linux if you live in a house saturated with windows machines.

Technically speaking it is possible but requires hacking on some stuff; not at all worth the effort. I wouldn't soo much blame google and android devs so much as I would windows (specifically NTFS) for not being case sensitive (strangely a fairly annoying issue)

Its not nearly as cut and dry as that bud theres lots of reasons but they are much more technical.

Best thing you windows users can do is a vm or dual boot but I promise if you took the time to learn about linux you would love it way more than windows.

My Dell inspiron 1545 was on win7 after playing with linux for a while I learned theres nothing yall can do I cant so I made the switch permanent and dont miss it a bit
