I am unable to access the files on my Samsung Note 5. Is there any reason why this might be?

When I plug in my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on a Verizon plan into my Windows 10 laptop I am unable to access any of the files. It will recognize it as "SM-N920V," but when I open the device it just shows the message "This folder is empty."

So far here are the things I've tried:
-updating all drivers that have anything to do with the USB connection to the device
-uninstalling drivers
-enabling USB debugging
-changing the "Use USB for" option from "Charge this phone" to "File transfer"
-using a different USB cable
-using a different USB port
-using a different computer (though if I remember correctly when I plugged it into my sister's laptop randomly sometime I think it did work then)

Welcome to Android Central! I saw at least one other post like this, about a more recent Samsung phone (either S10 or Note10). It might be an issue with a recent Windows update. Did your computer just update?

I would try one more computer since you think it worked on your sister laptop just for peace of mind to rule that out

My computer updated a long while ago, but I suppose this has also been an issue for a long while, too, so that might be the issue. I'll also try plugging it into some other computer at school tomorrow to see if I can get the files to show up.

Well, if it means anything, I just plugged the phone into a Chromebook and it acted like it was going to load some files from the phone but the loading bar on the top just never stops panning. I also just updated my Windows laptop to the feature update 1909 this morning, but I'm still having the same "This folder is empty" result (I didn't really expect the new feature update to fix the issue anyways).

How about cleaning out the phone's charge port? Use a can of compressed air to blow it out, and a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts.
