Ill keep this short. I attempted to install my first custom ROM. Didn't work well, so I did a factory reset. EPIC fail.

I don't really know much about android OS. Now, when I cut the phone on, the LG symbol comes up, Then goes black. Thats all it will do. IT WILL NOT go into recovery mode.:(

I dont want to screw it up even more. So that is why i turned here. Any help is appreciated. And please go slow and try to keep it simple. This is my first android.

I DID THE SAME!!!!!
So i rooted my LG Optimus V over Christmas, but today decided i want to reset the the phone so i used the factory data reset without knowing it would mess up my phone. I'm only 16 and do not have another $130 to spend on a new phone. When I boot the phone after it shows the LG sign the screen is just blank and stays there. I can't boot into recovery mode using volume down+home+power. When i do that the screen just stays blank. PLZ SOMEONE help! I don't see how the phone can be fixed if i cant see the screen! :(
PLZ HELP MY PARENTS ARE GOING TO KILL ME IF I CANT FIX IT. :'(

I think i did it all with the clock work app. I used the option in the app to back up the original 2.2.2. android OS. Then I also used the same app to download the ROM and install it.

It gave me the option to clear the cache and the dalvic cache, i think that is what its called. When it rebooted, all it seemed to do was wipe my phone and make it look like it did when i bought the phone.

However, the home butten, and android market didn't work. So that is when i factory reset

im sure very talented and smart people will come in and help you with your problems. and on any other day I'd try to as well, but I think ive spent most of my time this week digging up links and writing up replies to tell people how to fix this EXACT. SAME. PROBLEM.

so for now, all I will do is sit back and laugh at the total fail of new OV owners. partly becuase no one seems to do any research online, and partly becuase Rom Manager still exists.

I know. But this is my first android, ever. Im not familiar with any processes, terms, or anything android. What would you recommend instead of rom manager? (i used it because i thought it would be quick.)

The best way to load a recovery is via terminal emulator or adb. You download a recovery that properly supports our phones like IHO Recovery and flash it manually. Then once a proper recovery is in place you flash the custom ROM via recovery. Check out the sticky's as they contain alot of information

How do I get adb working? And when I get it working, how do I use it? The links are good, but they are still a little tough to understand for a newbie like me.

And thanks for all the replies, Im still, slowly, learning.

People, just look through the forums. Search the internet. Do something! You got yourselves into this mess. You should be able to get yourselves out. I too would normally help, but like watsky, I have spent my entire week with threads like this. There must be 3 other threads on this page with people with the same. exact. problems. I remember when I first got this phone as well. I knew nothing about Android. I made the same mistakes. But then, I solved all my problems by searching. I installed adb, put a proper recovery on my phone, and flashed a working ROM. I was 14, I've only had this phone for a year. You can do it.

I have read all the threads, I understand all the processes. Pretty much the only thing i cant get to work is adb. for some reason, the google usb driver package will not install. There is nothing, in any thread, that covers this problem. When i try to install the package it says "access is denied". WTF:mad:

Ok. I reinstalled android sdk tools. But now when I try to install android sdk platform tools and google usb driver package, it says "faild to create directory C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\temp.
Done. Nothing was installed." What am I doing wrong?

Well if adb is working you can Google Android screencast to possibly use your black screened recovery to flash a new rom. I'd recommend any of the IHO variants

ADB is not working. When i try to run it, the black screen will appear, the words appear so fast i cant even see the first one. it will do this for a sec or two then it will exit.
