Elderly friend with slight hearing loss got a new LG G5, was having difficulty hearing callers, even with volume cranked all the way up. Went back to AT&T store, tried another G5, an iPhone 6S and the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 won hands down in the hearing department. Another win for the S7.
When he called last night, the S7 to S7 conversation was the clearest I have heard to date. Both on the network, his WiFi calling not yet enabled, my phone indicated network.
BTW, he left the AT&T store after they supposedly "updated" the software, but he didn't have the update with WiFi calling enabled and Advanced Messaging. We checked the security patch date, his was in May, mine was July 1. Perhaps the phone has to be in the system a bit longer before AT&T will send the update, or the fact that he was not in a WiFi area that AT&T would not allow the download. He has a 15 GB plan, more data than he will ever use, and the patch is a 600 MB download. Shouldn't be a problem.
