Android Central Question

It sounds like the most simple thing in the world; but as per usual computers and mobile phones have turned the most simple thing ever into the worlds most nightmarish enigma!

How am i supposed to transfer my files on my android phone to my windows 10 pc after connecting the micro usb cable directly to my pc???? The pc recogises the android phone BUT does not recognise any of the files on my phone, picture, document, music or video! All i get is a very pointless message saying 'unlock your phone' ... it is unlocked! what is causing this frustrating problem?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? The usual steps are as follows:

1. Wake your phone and make sure the screen is unlocked.
2. Connect the phone to your computer via USB.
3. On the phone, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon.
4. Make sure MTP is selected (it might also be called File Transfer).
5. On the computer, open Windows Explorer and look for the phone in the device list -- open it, and you should see the device folders.
