I cannot get my Gmail app to automatically push my messages

Hi everyone I can't my Gmail app to automatically push my messages to my Gmail. I do not want my messages to go to the native droid mail app.
Please see the screen shots below of my settings:

I'm having the same problem although this is my first Android phone so I figured I was just doing something wrong. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Check the automatically sync box in the first screen shot. That would allow your Gmail to sync regularly.
