I can't see the DCIM folder on my Nexus 6 from Lenovo laptop

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2. I connect the Nexus 6 by USB.
Windows recognizes the Nexus 6.
BUT, Windows shows there are NO files or folders on my Nexus 6.
I expected to see DCIM folder so I can download my pictures and videos.

Welcome to Android Central! On the phone, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Make sure MTP is selected.

I have the same problem. I don't see the DCIM folder and I don't see the toggle between the two USB connection modes. My phone is Xperia J with Android 4.1.2. When I look into the phone through a USB connection, I see only LOST.DIR (empty), .estrongs and a 9 KB Default-Capability XML file and this is all I see. Please advise, I have photos in (I suppose) internal storage and I must retrieve them.
