No. Samsung Internet works on all phones. I have both Samsung Internet and Brave in my Honor 8 Lite.
I prefer Brave because it is faster. It blocks ads without extension, it closes all tabs when I exit browser and it also block ads in Feedly when I use it's custom tabs.

Stock Samsung browser with AdGuard app has been 100% effective so far.

I had a chance to buy lifetime license which included 2 PCs and 2 Android devices for cheap and been the best purchase for my systems this year browsing on all platforms has been much more enjoyable and faster without ads.

I am always on the lookout for a new browser but been happy with the stock Samsung Browser.

Samsung Internet is currently v. 8.0 and beta was updated yesterday to 8.2 - worth checking.
