I give up, staying with the Droid Maxx

Anyone else sticking with the Droid Maxx after looking at everything else available?

To me, battery is king, and there's just not much else out there that can compete.
After two years, I expect things to get better, not worse. And most every other phone is a step backwards in battery.

I also really love the wireless charging, but I could get over that.

I would *love* nexus like updates, but I can't go through battery anxiety again after two years of not worrying an ounce about my battery lasting all day.

Most with the 6P aren't worried about all day battery. Doze in Marshmellow is pretty awesome.

Droid Turbo, Droid Turbo 2, and Droid Maxx 2 all have equal or better battery life and are much better phones...

The Droid Turbo isn't significantly better. The Droid Turbo and Maxx 2 are better, but pretty expensive right now.

I couldn't agree more with this post. I've been obsessively checking out the specs for all the new phones that meet my basic criteria, which consist of at least matching the specs of the Maxx, including size. My father-in-law has a Nexus 6, which is a great phone for him, but I find it to be clownishly large. I was ready to get a Nexus 5x, until I realized I'd be giving up wireless charging (why did they skimp on that??). The Droid Turbo 2 is also just too big for me.

I also hate to give up the good ol' dual radios that allow me to be on the phone and use 4g data at the same time, without enabling VOLTE. The MAXX is one of the last phones to have this feature. VOLTE is fine if you're willing to tolerate dropped calls if you're driving and moving in and out of 4g coverage. I'd rather temporarily lose my data than lose the call. I'll have to make my peace with VOLTE eventually, I know, but for now the MAXX is still an excellent phone.

For a little while I was experiencing pretty frequent random reboots, which was getting very annoying. I finally narrowed it down to the WeatherBug app. I uninstalled it several days ago, and I've had no problems since. I'm now a very happy user of the paid version of Arcus Weather.

I owned both, the Droid Maxx and the Turbo, still have both of them here...the Turbo is 10x the phone the Maxx is. Screen, processor flies, camera, etc...
And given the Turbo 2 is out, they're practically giving them away. I was only offering a cheap option to op dilemma with battery life.

With turbo/quick charging, I know I'm ok with not having wireless charging. It's nice, but plugging in for a few minutes to get a few hours of battery life is a lot better in my book. I'll take that trade, particularly for a phone that will actually be updated.

The Maxx is still a good phone, but my battery life is less than it was, I was having to compromise on features or plug in during the day (without quick charging), so I was ready to move on.

I don't talk much on the phone so I can really live without voice and data anyway. But, I get that others need that. Here's hoping that Verizon fixes some of the advanced calling issues (i.e., hands off calls to CDMA when you lose LTE coverage, and can hand it back when you regain it; I'd rather have that than have hd voice.)

How did you pin it down? I've stuck with the unsupported WeatherBug Elite because I like its presentation, but I'll dump it in a heartbeat if it's behind my phone's increasingly-frequent reboots.

I wish I could day it was a completely scientific process, but really I just thought about apps that I knew were constantly running in the background. WeatherBug seemed like an easy one to try uninstalling (after many attempts at disabling bloatware and other built-in apps that I don't use), and it really does seem to have done the trick. Arcus Weather is the Android version of the Dark Sky app on iPhones, and so far it seems great. Still no random reboots as of this posting.

I have a 6p now. I get a solid 24 hours with 2 to 5 hours screen on time. Generally speaking my phone only goes into doze when I'm sleeping after work. I too was worried about battery, but trust me you will be fine. Just a little background my job requires me to move around a skyscraper (maintenance) and I use my phone constantly when waiting for elevators, for documentation via video and pictures, watching short videos on YouTube, etc. I would post battery stats but unfortunately the AC app crashes when I try (known bug AC is working on it).

I also had the random reboots where the screen would freeze, but I didn't have the WeatherBug app. I upgraded to the Turbo (2014) last month and I love it! I still keep the maxx so that I can play Clash of Clans on my alternate account on WiFi. On that phone, I disabled or uninstalled ALL the apps I could except Clash of Clans. Reboots are less frequent, but still happen. I have a feeling it's a hardware problem. Planned Obsolescence perhaps?
