I can not update no matter how hard I try. :'( I was told that I can't because I am rooted. Well, I tried to unroot using SuperOneClick. The stupid program froze! I tried to unroot using Gladroot. There were multiple errors and I could not unroot. I tried to update using the Windows Updater and it gave me a message saying that I am up to date when I am not and when there is clearly an update which I download. I'm at my wits end. I think this phone is going back! I also tried Factory Reset and it still has GreyBlur on it. :( HELP!

Wow, ok, root is not stopping you from updating. If you are having issues, follow the instructions from the sticky above and restore to .57 via Motorola's official method. It was created to bring people back to official software. Then do the OTA again. I have not used it, just passing along what I have read.

Ok, the sticky is on the rooting hacking part of this forum. Just read through it and a bunch of people were complaining about it doing nothing, so the alternative is to head over to XDA and follow instructions to flash .57 manually. Should be just as easy as you loading Gingerblur.

Also, you can go to XDA Developers forum and they have all sorts of tutorials and help in flashing the stock software (sbf). If you like your phone, don't take it back. There are several methods of restoring your stock software.

I like the phone. But now I really am gonna have to take it back. I don't know what happened. :'( I can not access the internet. :'( Or receive text messages. This is the 30th day and AT&T said it is covered by warranty. This is terrible. What could have happened? And the bad part is that my phone is rooted and has a custom ROM. How am I gonna return it with that? They are going to say something. :(

Try to flash 1.57 asap. at that point if you still want to return it, you won't have any custom rom hassles. that or get 1.57 and you should be able to upgrade to 1.83

shouldn't have rooted n the first place man.Stock is the best policy so this way noone gets royally screwed. There are ways to unroot theres probably something your missing in the steps to follow. This is the number one reason I havent done it yet.Its way easier to install hybrids on BB than this Android system.

I can try flashing 1.57 when I get home but my phone already has 1.57 on it. I can't connect to the internet. AT&T said to return the phone for a new one. I tried to get past the motoblur setup page but I can't. :'(:-\

Use this link to flash back to 1.57 you'll need an rsd lite program to do that. http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-1-5-7-ota-update-sbf
From what i understand is gingerblur is a pseudorom so people recommend to just reflash sbf file. Try to reflash it eventhough your phone says it has 1.57 already it should return it to stock.

I had the same issues on my phone until I went back and SBFed to the stock rom. I actually went back to the original software and then did both OTA upgrades and the phone works beautifully.

Thanks everyone! I will try that as soon as I get home. Hopefully it will save me a trip to AT&T and everything works out well. ;)

No luck at all. I had to swap it for a new one. Glad to be back on my Atrix. That Blackberry I was using gave me a headache. lol

I was having a similar problem where I couldn't apply the OTA Update. I had rooted using SuperOneClick, and installed a custom splash screen. No matter what I tried, the udpate hung at the unpacking stage. Only way out was to remove and replace battery.

I reset to stock (which left the custom splash screen intact) and still couldn't update. So I downloaded the Windows Updater software from Motorola, and it was able to update phone. Had to restore contacts and applications, but at least I got the update. Rerooted using Gingerbreak, and Gladenable. So when I got the 4.1.83 update, that went smoothly.

It might be worth people checking out the Windows software updater if they get stuck.

FLASH back to Stock 1.57 and update via wifi. if u cant follow these 2 steps. u should return ur phone and never buy an android again..

I lol'd when I seen that haha.

But, I will say hes right though. Ive Flashed and Reflashed the factory roms over and over again, rooted and unrooted and everything is still fine. Flashed back to 1.57 and the OTA update comes through for the latest.
