Do you think that you need a newer device to simply run a VR app in the first place? Well, I managed to get Crazy Roller Coaster Simulator running on my retired Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 ! It has a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU (Stock 1GHz, but I overclocked it to 1.42GHz) and a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU (stock 307MHz, but overclocked to 512MHz) and 1GB of RAM. Sounds incapable of even getting VR to load,eh? Well, VR actually works on it. Performance is only slightly laggy until you get to one stage in the demo where it starts profusely lagging. But yes, that is still impressive considering how ANCIENT the SoC in this thing is. The TI OMAP 4430 dates back to (correct me if I am wrong) January 2011. The GPU is the *exact* same one as the one in the Samsung Hummingbird SoC used in the first Galaxy S (In the i9000 it is 200MHz).
