Hi everyone.
This is my first post on any forum anywhere so it's a shame it's done in such anger. So please excuse my temper or possibly completely noob and numpty question / problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 (p5110) which has just been updated to 4.2.2 and I @#$%^&* hate it!
All Google tabs close when I go to home screen and back. Even if I open a new tab and go to bookmarks, all other open tabs are gone.
No apps remain 'active' when I go away from them and always reset.
And it's SLOW!
I also don't like the way I can't save 'show desktop' setting.
The version I had before (whatever that was) worked a treat and I'm very close to throwing this heap of junk in the bin and getting an ipad. (Of course the problem with that is my iphone has just been updated and I hate that too)
I thought updates were supposed to improve things, not make them harder to use!

Are my problems common, unique to me or are they not problems at all and I'm just stupid?
Am I missing some settings somewhere?
Can it be fixed?
Can I reinstall the previous version?
Should I throw it in the bin?

I was thinking about swapping my iphone over to an Android but I doubt that is going to happen now.
Can anyone help with any advice or solutions. Please?!

Remember - I'm a numpty with this stuff!
Thanks.
And sorry for the rant!

First off, welcome to Android Central.
About the version, you should be able to go back to the previous version if you factory reset it. This will delete everything on the device (not what's on the SD card but I'd take it out if you have one inside) so I would recommend you back up your data before doing so.

Welcome to Android Central, and yikes, sorry you're so frustrated! One thing to try is a system cache partition wipe, which can clear away some of the old temporary system data that can potentially cause problems, especially after a system update. Follow these instructions to get to the Recovery menu, but instead of "Wipe Data," make sure you select "Wipe Cache Partition." You won't lose any personal data.

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the bad experience the Tab is giving you - hopefully it doesn't leave a sour taste for you and future Android devices.

Try the above suggestions and let us know how things go.

The times I have done a factory reset on my RAZR Maxx, the OS did not roll back.

Really? I thought it would

Every factory reset I have done has no bearing on the OS version. Resets clear apps and settings.

Thanks heaps for the replies everyone, I really appreciate it.
Today is a new day and I've taken a deep breath. I just got home from work and got myself a beer and I'm ready to tackle your suggestions.

I did think about a factory reset at first but was a bit worried about starting all over again so wondered if there was a better / easier solution.
I will have a go at 'wipe cache partition' and let you know how I go.
I am but a mere wood machinist!!!

Thanks again.

Ok, its still a heap of junk!
it wont even let me wipe cache partition.
It says 'no command' then starts to erase briefly before saying 'error' then rebooting.
I havent tried a full hard reset yet incase I stuff it competely.
I tried finding out what 'no command' means before I bothered you good folk again but I found nothing.

anyone have any ideas?

Another disadvantage to rooting...

What device is it ?

Interesting point. If the OP never rooted, it'd be important to know where the tablet came from, because if it was used, maybe it came already rooted without his knowledge. Any comment, lloydloft?

Not rooted (wouldnt know how)
Bought it new about 6 months ago.

Did I get a dud?

Did you try a battery pull ? (Take battery & sim card out device for 10 minutes and put back in)

Did you try a factory reset ?

( I also at one stage had major problems with my device-stock apps such as settings crashing every time I open settings with sense re loading often when I close an app and go to home screen. I did a factory reset and discovered that avast agent was the cause to all my issues-phones fine now)
