I have a galaxy s5 sport, why is my battery draining while it's on the charger and stays hot?

As of last night I noticed my battery was quickly depleting, it quickly dropped to 12% so I put a backup battery that I have in to see I'd forgot to charge and it was 11%. I put the phone on the charger and was using it but noticed the battery (was showing it was charging) was still losing power. I then used a different charger thinking there may have been a short in the other one. Same thing happened, so I took the other battery and tried it... same thing. I left my phone on but closed out all open apps to charge overnight and when I woke up it had charged to 100%, but as I am using it still connected to the charger it's on 90% right now and remains warm to hot. If anyone knows what this is or what I should do please advise in non technical terms if you can. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you had the answer already, but I don't think that it is possible to run our G870A's solely on A.C. power. Plug it in and don't use it. (Mine is currently plugged in, but it's already fully charged, so I'll disconnect it now)

Oops! I didn't see that you had a "Sport," so disregard the G870A part.
