I have a huawei nova 3 but apparently can't see the software update option in the about menu

Im using a huawei nova 3 PAR-LX9 running Android 8.1 and emui 8.2.0 and i know there is an update for this phon, the emui 9 based on Android 9 rolled out years ago but there is no software update option in my settings even if i run the hicare app i can't seem to find this option.. Does this mean im stuck at oreo?

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible the servers responsible for the over-the-air update were shut down a while ago, considering how old the phone is. You could try manually flashing the update: https://www.getdroidtips.com/huawei-nova-3-par-lx9-firmware-flash-file/

Im not sure if I replied in the correct manner or but thank you... So these servers are the ones responsible for removing the manual update setting on my phone? Because there isn't even a physical button to even check for updates on my phone.. And the manual update is it safe? I have downloaded the update firmware manually to copy to the dload folder but im afraid I might do something wrong

Any Developer Options turned on?

Was this phone originally sold by a carrier, or was it direct from Huawei? Sometimes, a carrier-branded phone needs to be on that carrier's network to get an official update.

No developer option turned on and i didn't buy it from any carrier or official Huawei shop but instead i got it from a relative.. Im not sure if it's a carrier branded phone.. How would I know if you can help? And also I recently saw a similar issue posted on the official website for HUAWEI (not for nova to 3 however ) with them saying they removed the setting so the system itself has to push the update on its own.

Hello... So I finally solved it.. It was simple and straightforward actually... I downloaded the " system update "apk from apkpure and installed successfully without root and automatically the system update toggle appeared in my phones settings.. But when i search for updates its saying no updates found.. Im using emui 8 but nova 3 has emui 9 that rolled out a couple of years ago.. Since my phone isn't carrier branded or anything, I don't know why I can't get an update.. I tried installing the rom that I downloaded via the link you suggested but it's giving me an update error in emui recovery.. The rom I downloaded is 8.2.0.136 and i have 8.2.0.999 installed so maybe downgrade disallowed .. I even downloaded a second firmware (9.1 which is an update) and got same error.. Both software are for PAR-LX9.. Im sure im not making mistakes im not a newbie i have played around with roms before.. , bootloader is unlocked and I think it's manufacture unlocked.. Maybe im stuck on oreo

Sounds like you've done a lot of work! But I'm not sure why you're still not seeing it. It still could be due to the Huawei servers that handle that update having been shut down. Or sometimes, certain variants of a phone intended for certain regions don't get the same update as everyone else.
