I have a red exclamation mark next to a text message conversation, what does it mean?

I have a red exclamation mark next to a text message conversation

all messages to this person appear to have been sent, but there is a red exclamation mark on the text message list screen, next to that persons name.

If you scroll through your text messages with this person, there might be a text message that wasn't send to the person.
