I have entered the wrong pattern 4 times on my galaxy s8.

I have entered the wrong pattern 4 times on my galaxy S8. I am assuming it locks after 5 incorrect tries, correct? If i leave it sit for a certain amount of time will it reset and give me more tries? Or will it remember the 4 previous incorrect tries?
