I have not paid the extra $20 to add visual voicemail to my Galaxy S8 plus through AT & T

How do I set up regular voicemail on my S8 Plus with AT & T

Call your number from your phone and your vm will pick up. You should be prompted to set up a pin, and choose a greeting.

Calling my number didn't work. And when I push the number one for voicemail it tells me to register for visual voicemail. Which I do not want.
