Re: I have the HTC 10 thing about the HTC u11 or the pixel 2

If money isn't an issue the P2 is probably a better bet. Certainly as far as software updates would be concerned. But I love my Sapphire Blue U11. I'm intrigued by the P2 camera but not enough to switch to it. And it does support the USB-C fast charging protocols.

I get a little sad every time I have to put the U11 in a case. That problem would be solved with the P2

I have the U11 and if it wasn't available the Pixel 2 XL would be my next phone of choice. only think I don't like is no memory card slot and I really like have that extra removable memory on my U11 . HTC is also said to be coming out with the U11 plus by the end of the year so that might be worth the wait to see what it's like. Whatever u do good luck and let us know ur decision.

I'm just thinking that the agency you 11 it will be really great phone. I really like where the fingerprint scanner is only see you 11 and how fast it is I will be probably just putting a nice clear hard case on it. still thinking I'll probably pull the trigger about 2 months

I wouldn't go for a U11 at this stage. Nice phone but the design and durability largely haven't stood the test of time. The support from a software standpoint is apalling too. I got myself an S8 after having the U11 but from your choice I wouldn't hesitate in getting a Pixel 2.

U11 is a superb phone but absolutely has a dated design on the front. Wait for the Plus if that is actually a thing.

Also since I've had my HTC 10 I've received TWO security patches in the 13 months I've had it...

Not good enough from these companies.

Do you have one from Verizon or another carrier because I have the unlocked version and I have received a security patch every month since it came out. I have probably received at least 12 security update. That is on the HTC 10

FWIW, my unlocked HTC 10 is on the Sep 1, 2017 security update. They've been pretty good about keeping the unlocked phone reasonably up to date.

Yeah, my unlocked HTC 10(now sim-less WiFi device) has received numerous security patches and I am superbly proud HTC has kept this device up to date!

My HTC 10 was bought unlocked from their website but I use an EE SIM (UK). Why are others getting regular updates and I'm not?!

:(

If I temporarily remove the SIM and then check for updates you reckon I'd see one ready for download?

the biggest reason I'm looking at getting the HTC u11 or pixel 2 is that my HTC 10 is having issues at the moment. it restarts randomly. though I have already done a factory reset and replaced the SIM card. so I think it could be a hardware issue. I I'm thinking of using it as a decent backup.
also I went to the Verizon store and it seems that the pixel 2 is 5.2 not 5.0 it's the same size as The HTC 10 which I had to put Next to if. I just need to decide whether to get the pixel 2 or The XL.

Both phones are great options - but I think it dials down to what you want most in a phone: if you want stock Android, I recommend the Pixel. I think the U11 has better specs but both phones have good merit. Let us know what you decide!

I have an unlocked HTC U11 that has received numerous updates over the last few months. HTC is pretty good about keep their phones up to date. We should see Oreo in 3-4 months and my guess is that we will get it before Samsung and LG phones.

Compared to the pixel phones, the HTC offers more bang for your buck (SD slot, expanded edge sense functionality, larger screen). It's much cheaper but you do forgo the timely updates and latest Android OS (Oreo), plus an AMOLED screen and a marginally better camera.

For full disclosure, I have a Pixel 2 XL 128 GB on pre-order and what gets me most excited is Google Fi. I'm fed up with ATT not providing support for unlocked phones; it's ridiculous that they can handicap your phone by not offering visual voicemail or wi-fi calling. Google makes life simple.

🤔 something is wrong with your phone if it is unlocked because I get security updates regularly

As far as people saying dated design they keep forgetting not everybody is a fan of the new ratio just like everyone has not accepted removing the 3.5 jack... Stop putting y'all likes and desires on others

If you have AT&T you can do Visual Voicemail by downloading the AT&T Visual Voicemail app but nothing for the Wi-Fi calling.
