I have the Samsung SM-T550 9.7 Tab A..why can't it receive calls?

I have the Samsung SM-T550 9.7" Tab A...

I recently downloaded hangout dialer and was given a phone number. I didn't opt for using my existing phone number, I have the iPhone 6s and figured droid and apple may not be compatible, besides a new phone number would be cool. The app works great, as far as placing calls but why won't it receive calls? I am wondering if I may have missed something during set up? Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! For a tablet, I think you'd need a Google Voice number in order for people to call you on the tablet. https://support.google.com/voice/answer/115061?hl=en
