I have tried to transfer my Facebook Contacts to my phone, but Sync won't work. What should I do?

I have tried to transfer my Facebook Contacts to my phone, but Sync won't work.

1. I tried reinstalling Facebook to transfer contacts - did not work.
2. Under settings I tried the Accounts & Sync and that would not work.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Not all phones support this function. Did it used to work on the same phone before, or were you able to do it on a previous phone?
