I recently went on the hunt for a heart rate solution. According to the fitness and wearables experts, the run of the mill fitness bands only do a so-so job with HR.
I found an interesting solution that I didn't know existed so I figured I'd share.
I'm doing this:
Pulling HR telemetry from a Scosche RHTYHM+ arm band which integrates with Endomondo on my Nexus 6, which sends my heart rate in real time to my Samsung Gear Live running the Endomondo app.
The technology Scosche licensed for this band is supposed to be the best HR solution out there and it seems to work well with Endomondo. The display of HR on Android Wear works well through the Endomondo companion app. Once the screen dims it updates every 10 seconds as you'd expect.
Pretty slick and future proof. It means that for about $80 (the cost of the Scosche strap) you can integrate good HR telemetry into current and future apps and Android Wear devices.
