Hi all. As the title suggests I purchased a new Pixel 2 XL direct from Google yesterday October 8, then today I noticed a significant price drop of approximately $250.00.

I've reached out to Google via customer feedback to request the newest adjusted price IF possible. I haven't heard back from them yet, but my card was charged today and the device shipped today. Kudos to Google for rapid response on delivery! Lol.

I've never dealt with Google as a vendor before. What are the chances that Google will accept my request for the adjusted price?

They didn't allow it in my case, but you could literally just return the phone and buy it again like I did when the Pixel 2 XL was reduced by £100 ($130) two weeks after I bought it when it first came out!

Thanks FlamingAngel. I'm actually finding out how hard it is to communicate with Google for questions like mine around hardware sales.

It's like that area of customer service is in the center of some enormous labyrinth that I have yet to crack.

You can communicate directly with them via the support function on the Pixel itself once it arrives, either via webchat or by phone, there's an option to contact them either way.

That's probably your best bet, that's what I did!

UPDATE:

Thanks to FlamingAngel I used Google's own contact route in the phone itself. Google price matched to their new adjusted price, saving me almost $300.00.

Great device, great price, now you get my advice - get the 2xl and don't think twice! :)

I'm genuinely really happy this all worked out for you! I still have my 2 XL, and I don't intend on changing this year. You made a good purchase, you'll be more than happy!

Re: I just purchased a new Pixel 2 XL then price drop!

This is not exactly related to your question/issue but....
I am thinking about going for the Pixel 2 XL. I am still using a Note4 so I am wayyy overdue for a new phone.

So I go to store.google.com and see the price has indeed gone down by $300. It says $1,398 with a line through it and new price $1,099. But I then go to Amazon and I see a range of Pixel 2 XL from $538 up to $840. Now I imagine some of them are used phones. I want a new one, just to make sure I get the longest period of battery life before I have to service a new battery. And i don't want it on a plan. What is the non google price for the Pixel 2XL these days?
And another thing strange: the memory option of 64GB vs 128GB is even shown at the google store. I don't even see what config they are offering when selecting to buy from that site. What's up with that?

@krauster

I don't have an answer to your question on non Google prices because they're all over the map.

In some cases where vendors are selling refurbished devices you might get 3rd party charging cables and plugs and who knows the history? What is the standard for "Certified Refurbished" and who's to say if some vendors don't just rubber stamp that claim? Some vendors could be shady [it's the internet, right?] and you might just drop your money into a black whole and no refunds...

Buying new from Google gets you all of Googles support, including warranty and phone support etc...

If you select "buy" on the google store site it's not taking you to your cart, but instead it directs you to device configuration and pricing associated with your choice of configuration. So you'll see your prices for 2/2XL 64 vs 128 gb etc.. if that's not what you're seeing then check your url to make sure you are infact visiting the genuine google site, or they possibly have run out of stock and just have 1 model or configuration left. I'm not surprised if stock is out as the 2 is really a good device with a few service years left and guaranteed continued support.

Good luck

Do keep in mind that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones have a two-year warranty when purchased from an authorized reseller.
