I just want a clean stock rom!

I have read a lot about cleanROM, Omega etc. All I really want is to get rid of all the Sprint and Samsung apps! The S4 is fast don't get me wrong, but I want the extra storage back! While I am at it, why not free up some ram while killing start up apps. I have the MF9 update and plan to use chainfire as a root solution. While the App to SD helps, I feel I can reclaim a decent amount of space my removing bloat.

My question is if I root can I simply uninstall what ever I want via settings? That seems to simple. I am willing to try anything at this point. A sprint update reset all of my home screens and that was the last straw!!!! If I am able to clean my install up, can I make the clean version the firmware version? Or will I have to re clean it if I need to restore? Restoring isn't a big deal since I use Helium.

Any help is appreciated. Please help me kill Sprint and Samsung software!

Once rooted, there are apps like Titanium Backup and MyBackup that allow you to freeze or remove apps. Just be careful as to which apps you uninstall.

Sounds simple enough. The very minimum I want to get rid of all the Sprint installed crapware. Not only did it install Sprint stuff but CBS, Bacon Reader etc. Is there anything Samsung not safe to remove?

I'm running a CM10.1 based ROM so everything Samsung is gone.....lol

I can't remember what all I removed but it doesn't really help that much, at least in my opinion. Just makes your apps drawer look cleaner

I have it now and I know no one knows this for sure, but will 4.3 come soon? I have no idea about the unroot process. What is the best way to backup my cleaned install? If I ever need to reset the phone I would prefer not to do it all over again. Thanks for the help so far!

I honestly wouldn't think about unrooting just yet. We don't know when the 4.3 update will come out but 9 times out of 10, the dev community will have a working 4.3 ROM out before carriers do.....haha

Is there a way to do it via boot loader unlock? I guess I am not clear on the difference. So after rooting and killing all the cruft (that oh so bothers me) can I unroot and get updates? Or will this allow Sprint to reinstall the annoying software? I am not sure how comfortable I feel with my phone being rooted full time.

When you unroot you lose all root access. Updates install what Sprint wants and you run the risk of not being able to root again until someone finds the update for it. I've had rooted phones for years now and haven't seen a carrier update in a LONG time.....lol

Be advised: when you just root and debloat, you may not free up as much space as you think. All the 'smart' features, you know the bells and whistles, will still be there, and that is what kills a 16 GB device to a 9.xx GB. If you want most of your storage back, get an AOSP ROM like CM, AOKP, maybe even Slim has on for the S4.

Okay so stay rooted then if 4.3 update rolls out unroot-update-reroot-debloat and be happy? Got it. Is there a stock TW rom from Samsung? I really like TW for some reason! I just want to lose Sprint and all the preinstalled BS. I think next time a GE S4 or 5 might be a better option for me. I am just waiting to see if all of the hardware will be used by a pure install.

There is a zip flash file called 'Cleaning apps zip' which will wipe out every bloatwares once flashed.

Actually you may want to use titanium backup to remove it. Use tb to freeze the apps one by one, if no ill effects result from them being frozen, they are safe to uninstall.

The reason you would want to do it this way, is that some of Samsung's (along with other manufacturers) bloat is actually necessary for some of the features of the phone to work.
