Okay, im seriously sorry if i insult anyone with these questions, but i can't find a step-by-step set of instructions for doing a nandroid backup or applying the skyraider 2.2 OTA ROM....

Can anyone help me? I've googled it, and while i can make sense of most it, its stuff that is for phones other than the Incredible?? To make things worse (possibly), i'm on a MAC.

Thanks to anyone who pitty's me.....im just a noob that is desperate for some "Froyo" dessert.

Okay, nevermind, i got the nandroid part figured out.

But how about installing the SkyRaider 2.2 ROM.

And whats the deal with the radio?? which one do i need to have?

Okay I know it's hard but if you just use the search button (or even google, for that matter) there are plenty of step by step instructions for how to flash a rom.

Okay, whatever dude. I'm not even going to start playing this game.

Anyways, the only question i have, before install the skyraider rom is if i have to update the radio or whatever. I've read that you can brick the phone or screw it up somehow if you dont have the right radio.

I'm just confused on the whole radio part.

Search much? I made a post about this awhile ago. Same steps with 2.1 ROMs you will just need a 2.2 radio to have a working camera.......

Optimally you will want at least the 8/1/2010 leaked OTA radio BEFORE going to Froyo. In other words unroot, install the Leaked 8/1 OTA, then Root and flash Froyo.

I've been using THESE instructions to update my radio and after numerous trys, my radio is still the '1.00.03.04.06' version; what am i doing wrong?

No clue that's the directions everyone follows. If it didn't take you missed something. Don't power off/ reboot/ anything until it does it by itself. Be careful running the OTA twice bricks phones.

just went through like a 3 hour ordeal updating radios. basically if you're at stock (meaning never messed with radios or froyo leaks) then...

1) root with revoked
2) downloaded 8/1 leak
3) install using clockwork recovery

don't waste your time trying to install the older leak or be unrooted.

But what about the 2.x radio; or is the 8/1 and the OTA the same thing?

I've tried it in NUMEROUS different ways, and i can't get this damn radio to update. I've followed the directions to the 'T', multiple times, i've tried it w/o doing the PB31IMG.zip and just going straight to the OTA, and i've reverted back to my nandroid backup and then tried the process all over again. I can not get this damn radio to take/update??

Are you trying to install this using Clockwork recovery? If so, that is your problem. You need to install this using the Bootloader (HBOOT). Make sure the file is at the root of your SD card. Pull your battery. Hold down your volume down button while pressing the power button (after you've put your battery back in, of course). The bootloader should find this file and install it. Again, once the installation starts, do NOT power off your phone or pull the battery until the installation finishes. The radio installation can take a few minutes, so be patient.

Which file are you referring to? Because in the INSTRUCTIONS, it says to boot into recovery and apply the update.zip.

I was talking about the radio.

Okay, now im really confused....

In the Instructions, there are two files that you need to install.
- The first is the 'PB31IMG.zip', which you put in the root of the SD card, and reboot and HBOOT will load/install it automatically.
- The second is the OTA (I thought this was the actual radio portion), which the instructions say to name the OTA file, 'update.zip', and reboot into RECOVERY, and the load the file using the 'apply update.zip from SD' option.

Is this not right??

Sorry. You are correct, but where are you running into issues? Did the PB31IMG.zip install OK from HBOOT?

One other thought...try just renaming the OTA "update". It should automatically add the .zip extension. You may accidentally be naming this file update.zip.zip.
