So today we learned that the antena issue was not an issue at all b/c only .55% of users complained about the device. (sure that sounds sweet)

lets dive more into what we learned today

we also learned that over 2% returned the device out 3.7 million. so wait, if you returned the device thats not considered an unhappy "complaining customer"
to ME 2% of 3.7 million is alot for a month

more diving...

jobs raves about how he received 5,000 emails about how amazing the iphone4 is.. ok since we are playing the % game to make ourselves look good. thats saying that: .001% of people are happy with the iphone4

<3APPLE!!

He's arrogant. He always starts off the meetings patting himself on the back on what a huge success the Iphone is. It's for the investors I guess.

Steve Jobs common sense fail-ITS THE DESIGN STUPID

SO I'm probably gonna get **** for saying this but I've lost all respect for Steve Jobs and Apple. That conference today was an absolute JOKE. His answer to the antenna problem is that it does have an antenna attenuation problem, BUT ALL smartphones have the same problem. But then he says that only %0.55 have complained about it as if only 15,000 of the 3 million people have that problem. Seriously? He takes it a step further and shows three other phones showing bars dropping when you hold it "a certain way". Here's the huge problem with his copout bs he's feeding people... First of all, lets put ourselves in his little fantasy world. Lets say that ALL smartphones have the same "problem" that the iPhone 4 has... Where are the complaints then? How come the Droid Eris forums isn't filled with "death grip" stories of dropped calls and horrible service? How come every single Blackberry Bold owner I know, and trust me I know A LOT, have yet to complain about it? How come the only smartphone with this problem of this magnitude has been the iPhone 4? Well the answer is very simple. It's common sense actually... Lets stay in his fantasy world for this next point.. ITS THE DESIGN STUPID. It doesn't matter that "all smartphones have the same antenna attenuation. They weren't stupid enough to put the damn antenna outside the phone and on the lower left side, YOU guys were though! So yes Stevie, the iPhone DOES have a problem. And it's far worse than any other "smartphone" that's ever come out. Why, because of the design... Which is what tech experts have been saying from the VERY BEGINNING. And if only 15,000 of the 3+ million people complained, then why are you going go give away free cases to potentially up to 10+ million iPhone buyers? The problem with the iPhone is it has a poor antenna design. Period. But people will unfortunately will drink the Apple Kool-Aid (is there actually such a drink? I actually think it would taste good lol) and pretend that this isn't an issue. Why do I care about it so much? Because I think it's pretty effed up to lie about a potential serious flaw with a phone just to sell some phones and potentially take away sales from other manufactures that have made a quality phone that DOESN'T have a serious flaw like that. But w/e. Just my $0.02

His thumb is actually red where he's been holding the phone so tight. You can also tell how tightly it's being held by the fact his hand is actually overlapping the screen. You do not need to hold the iPhone 4 that tightly to cause the issue.

i cant seem to replicate any bar decrease on my EVO..
can anybody else?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. This whole thing is such bull**** man. I seriously have not a single ounce of respect for him or Apple anymore. Fck them

Nope Cant do this on my evo...

And on my BB it actually Increases Service go figure...

So to get Service with a T-Mo BB give it the Deathgrip

You can, if you lightly cover the upper portion of the phone with both hands from both sides. Got my signal to drop a bit.

its more so when you cover up around the 'sprint' logo.. the right side..
but it only drops 2-3 bars.. not zero.

anyway, i had an iphone 4 before my evo.
i had a bumper, originally and it made it still dropped bars, AND dropped calls.

the only way i could use it was using the apple headphones, or put the person on speaker..
and avoid touching the phone at all in call.

Besides, Because Apple had These bumpers AT LAUNCH, it pretty much tell you
they knew something was up. because apple's never made a case for any of their products.
and a bumper isnt even something that protects your phone. its just rubber that comes in contact with the sides
of the phone. a bumper wont protect the glass on both the front and the back, which i think they should of done atleast.
but being a case only around the phone makes me assume they knew during production.

i'm very happy that i switched to the EVO, never had sprint service before
but so far the service is great. and the plan is a lot cheaper than owning an iphone, and the
mandatory 30 dollar a month for data..

Yep, top right of my evo makes the bars drop, but nobody holds their phone like that. Bottom corners cause an increase in bars lol

Gotta love the audacity and arrogance of Apple's PR dept. They may just get away with it.

Well, considering that they sold 3 million phones in less than a month, (more like 3ish weeks) 1.7% is really not that much. It works out to around 51,000 phones, which sounds about right. Just to put it in perspective; when the Blackberry Tour was released on Sprint, the phone had a 50% return rate because of trackball issues. Now, that's pretty high, but most phones' return rates will be considerably higher than that 2%.

You should also note he didn't say WHY those phones were returned. For all we know it was because they didn't like it, not because of the antenna issue. Since they didn't say why (and since Apple likely doesn't keep that information), we just have to take that number at face value. (that it was 51,000 phones returned, with no reason given)

The .55% is more frustrating, however. In the presentation material it was clearly noted as only being apple care. That number doesn't include AT&T or Apple stores, which would have much more of a presence for many users than apple care. THAT number is pretty meaningless and manipulated.
