I am thinking of switching to android but having my current phone as a backup, incase android pisses me off too much.

I want to be able to tweak the phone as much as possible to be like the BlackBerry Z10, is this possible and what apps would I use? Z10 is such a great phone, and i hate the fact iPhone and Droid are killing it.

Hmm, still, what apps could add the same hub, gestures, ect to an android phone and is it possible to put vanilla android on the note 3

I've no idea as I?ve never used a Blackberry.

However, you can customise your UI with any number of launchers. My preferred launcher is Nova Prime where you can assign any number of gestures to complete whatever actions you require (swipe up/down one finger, swipe up/down two fingers, pinch in/out, rotate left/right, double tap, assign home button etc). It?s clean, it's fast, no bloat, and you really can customise your UI to exactly how you want.

In addition there are a number of side launchers to experiment with as well which you can use alongside Nova. I don?t have much experience of these to be honest as my only use for a side launcher is for basic app launching and OverlayLauncher does the job perfectly for my needs, but there are plenty of others to try out there.

B.Diddy gave you good advice on your thread elsewhere, and again I also wish you good luck!

RIM are killing Blackberry on their own.

The Nexus 4 or wait for the Nexus 5 or the Moto X are probably your best bet.

First advice on the switch is be patient, when I first switch from BlackBerry to Android I was very frustrated. But in a week I was very comfortable with Android and absolutely loved it. But don't try to force Android to act 100% like a bb.

Anyhow for gestures I recommend wave launcher, there are free ones put there but I do not recall their name.

There is no media hub on Android but with notifications and wave launch you can get close.

On the note3,i have a note2, I would not recommend stock OS, Samsung does pack some awesome features that would be lost. Instead I would recommend installing a launcher app like ADW.Launcher, Nova, or Apex. They have the stock look and built in gestures.

I also add an app by Google called gestures. This allows you to search content on your phone, contacts, apps, music, etc. By just writing on your phone screen.

What I'd suggest is getting an Android of your choice and run it stock for a week or two, see how things go before trying to immediately make it into a BB.

You can't go wrong with the following:
Galaxy S4
Galaxy Note 3
Htc One
Sony Xperia Z1
LG G2.

Once you get the phone, keep an open mind. It isn't a blackberry. It will have its own way of doing things. Give it a week to full learn the device. Don't be afraid to ask for advice.

When I switched from the 8900 to the Incredible it was painful for me to not close any apps and to just let android manage them by itself. Closing apps on the 8900 was a must or else the device would bog down so bad.

I agree with the other posts to just try the OS for a week, by itself. Then, start adding things to your liking. And I agree that you should not compare it to BlackBerry.

Exactly!
I was the same coming from Symbian in my Nokia 5800XM and Nokia N8 to Android in Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 in 2010, I found Android task management frustrating overtime got used it and began to find it very convenient.

It's never good to try make one OS work like another, the experience will be frustrating.

The Play Store has a few Blackberry themes, here's on in particular that may be of interest for you: Blackberry Z10 Theme - Play Store

With respect to other features, BBM is soon to be released to the masses and the widgets, apps, etc. offered by Android should help fill any voids you feel are left.
