I need help deciding what phone to pick, the contenders are the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. (I'm not interested in the Droid Razr, too thin for me and it's made by Motorola) I'm coming from the original HTC Droid Incredible.

I actually purchased the Rezound last week to give it a try, I was secretly hoping I would find something I didn't like about it so that I could get over my issues with Samsung, but it turns out I do like it enough to make it a very difficult decision. So, I'm turning here to help decide what to do. Here are my thoughts:

- I want the best phone available so that 2 years from now I still have a half decent phone.

- This will be my primary camera and I want good quality pictures, I'm a little worried that the SGN's camera isn't up to snuff.

- Good battery life is important to me, I got the Seido 3500 mAH battery for my Incredible and I'm a little worried that the SGN won't accept an extended battery (at least without looking weird like the TB) where the Rezound already has a very nice one available. (the size does not bother me, I actually like having something to hold onto) If the battery happens to be enough for a days use then I don't need the extended, but it's nice to know there is an option.

- Bloatware annoys the crap out of me, and it's all over the Rezound. (damn you Verizon!!!) I'm not really a fan of rooting my phone, so the appeal of a Google Experience device is big!

- I also want updates in a reasonable amount of time from when they come out, which is another big appeal of the Google Experience. Although I know that the Rezound will be ICS eventually, who knows when it will happen. Matter of fact, my Incredible JUST got the update to Gingerbread the week I got the Rezound, almost a year after Gingerbread was released. That's unacceptable to me!!!

- The build quality of the SGN scares me, the Rezound I must say is well built.

Any help anyone can give towards helping me decide one way or another would be very appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I bought the Rezound last night, switched from the iPhone. So far I'm loving it and it sounds like you are too. I was also in the same boat as you, Nexus or Rezound.

I spoke with various vendors and users concerning Samsung vs Moto vs HTC. Almost all of them said that the Samsung build quality isn't as reliable as HTC or Moto. And Samsung phones suffer from signal problems. I can't agree or disagree with that since I've never owned a Samsung device.

I believe a phone will last you as long as you want it too. Unless you are a hardcore gamer, which would be surprising with a phone, the Nexus and Rezound will last you quite a while. The only thing that might date your phone is when HTC releases a new version of Sense. Again, I'm only speculating.

So you mentioned being on top of the updates when released etc... And yes, that will happen with the Nexus. That would be because it is a developer phone. So you are basically a beta tester for google. Staying on top of the updates might sound appealing, but it also sounds like application breakage nightmare.

The Rezound has a nice camera but has a problem with color balances. Hopefully that can be fixed with a software update. The Nexus has a no lag shutter so taking multiple pics is fast. Don't base your decision off of MP.

I can't defend Verizon or other carriers for loading their bloatware on the phones. At least Android is more open with allowing competitor applications on the device vs Apples iPhone.

I'm sorry I couldn't answer all your questions. The Nexus is a developer phone. The Rezound is a multimedia phone.

I was never a big Samsung fan and after having the fascinate I would never buy another one . The specs on the nexus are not that impressive especially the camera only 5mp. The problem with all phones is you are taking a chance buying one because they all have issues that never get fixed. I had the droid incredible 2 and the signal strength was horrible and the speakers were worse. Now the Rezound is the exact opposite and so far the phone has been flawless.

I wouldn't be too worried. Personally i would go for the rezound which is where i think your headed. The one thing with the gnex is you will get every update for a while and maybe a little better battery life. Other wise, i think the rezound will get the update, and be well off. Its build i think is pretty good, hopefully no squeaky plastic like i always have for some reason but it doesn't really lag. And overall i have beats so i think it'l be a great phone. You won't regret it. The only thing i wish it had was nfc but its not available much so i don't think you'll miss it either...
